Feeling like you need to retreat?
Feeling like you need to retreat?
I just did, here is what I learned.
I crave solitude, to restore myself and to allow my creative mind to flourish.
I crave ‘real’ human connection. The kindness of strangers and connection to others without any agenda is a precious gift that I rarely access in my ‘normal life’, I will look for it more.
Yoga is a physical, emotional and spiritual practice that helps me push through mental barriers, challenges, inspires and energises me, oh and sometimes it hurts like hell! I need to do more of it, even if only 10 minutes a day. I don’t need to be all or nothing with my approach.
I CAN do a headstand, it is actually physically possible.
I resist stillness. I have an addiction to being busy, it’s a distraction from looking inward and being present. When I am still I’ve found the bigger picture the vision of my business to be clearer.
Without flexibility (both on the mat and off) you cannot always reach what you need to! I’ve found a deeper passion and understanding for the vision of my business and passion for meaningful collaboration.
I am truly grateful for all my human-form blessings. It would be a whole lot harder to retreat to such a beautiful place, with so much time to reflect without the support of my wonderful husband. I am grateful for how we parent our two vivacious children so that they have been able to adjust to a week without Mum. And for my beautiful friends and family whose energy and support I felt, and continue to do so from around the world.
A change in environment (beautiful Bali in this case) can provide a retreat and the opportunity for stillness and contemplation. From next week I will even test this on a busy Melbourne commuter train.
